At AZONETA, we believe that every child deserves a safe, dignified, and supportive environment in which to learn. A classroom is more than four walls—it is a space where confidence is built, curiosity is nurtured, and futures begin to take shape. This belief guided our recent classroom renovation project at Alaoma High School in Ozuitem, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria.
About the Project
From Friday, 17th January to Monday, 19th January 2026, AZONETA supported the renovation of the classroom floor used by Senior Secondary School (SS2) students at Alaoma High School. The classroom floor was in deplorable condition, posing safety concerns and making it difficult for students to learn comfortably and with focus.
Working alongside the school community and with the commitment of Onyekachi Chijioke, a teacher and volunteer on the project, the goal was simple but critical: to restore the classroom floor to a safe, usable standard so students could learn without risk or discomfort.

Outcomes and Impact
The impact of this project was immediate and deeply felt. Students returned to a classroom that was safer, cleaner, and more conducive to learning. The school principal and students expressed their gratitude and relief, noting that the improved environment has renewed motivation and a stronger commitment to studying diligently.
Why Classroom Safety Matters
Unsafe learning environments—cracked floors, uneven surfaces, and poor infrastructure—can distract students, reduce attendance, and even cause physical harm. By addressing these foundational issues, AZONETA is helping to ensure that children can focus on learning rather than navigating hazards. Safe classrooms protect students’ well-being and reinforce the message that their education and lives matter.
This project reflects AZONETA’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and meaningful impact. We are grateful to our volunteers, partners, and stakeholders who continue to make these interventions possible. Together, we are building safer spaces where children can learn, grow, and dream without fear.
