Demonstrating our unwavering commitment to quality education, AZONETA collaborated with Pioneer Secondary School in Amanasaa village, Umuchu, to tackle their teacher shortage.
At the onset of the academic year, Pioneer faced a critical deficit of educators in over 12 subjects across both junior and senior secondary levels. This shortage stemmed from various factors, primarily inadequate funding to cover teacher salaries.
In response to this pressing challenge, AZONETA devised a comprehensive strategy. We initiated a program to incentivize National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Members with a monthly stipend. Additionally, we provided support to Pioneer in hiring additional teachers by agreeing to cover their monthly salaries.
Our advocacy extended beyond the school gates as we brought awareness of this crisis to the Anambra Ministry of Education. Through our collaborative efforts, Pioneer secured the services of two additional teachers from the State Government.
Today, we take pride in the tangible impact of our intervention. Pioneer Secondary School now boasts a full roster of educators across all subject areas. Looking ahead, we anticipate continued progress and development at Pioneer, particularly as they attract more students, paving the way for a stronger Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
We sincerely thank Mrs. Regina Iloduba, Vice Principal, for her outstanding leadership throughout this endeavour. Special recognition is also due to Pioneer Secondary School’s dedicated teaching staff, notably Chinedu Nnaji, and the NYSC members (Sixtus, George, Kayode, and Marcus) for their unwavering commitment to service.
At AZONETA, we believe every student deserves a quality education and are committed to effectively addressing teacher shortages.
